Aw, maybe you could get used to it? Mostly the doll will be clothed anyway, is it not? (I've sanded off the sharp nipples.)
Yes, the body is strange looking indeed. But I don't mind as I do not like overly realistic dolls anyway. I like strange. And her head and hands do look beautiful to me.
-But... she does has trouble standing by herself; her knees buckle all the time. (But my Luts body does that too, Volks Unoss also. Flip flop, flop flip, etc...)
-And her elbows pop out of their socket when bent. That does look painful, but it puts her hands close to her face.
-Her wrists cannot move. (This bothers me the most, along with the bendy knee thing.)
In other words: many dolls look more professionally made, but do not actually pose better. I have 36 ABJDs now, and not one of them is perfect.
On the other hand: she can sit all by herself. Now, that's something a few of my older Volks dolls cannot do. And I put a silicone 'kips' (thin disc shape) between her neck and head, so now she can tilt her head and hold the poses. Works great. I kips-ed her shoulders too.
So, while I'm surprised at the strangeness and the awkward details, I also like the dollishness of her. She poses like she's made out of wood, but charmingly so. To my eyes she's amazing ...Posted 19 months ago. ( permalink )
